How to Be Confident and Speak in Public Without Preparation

You never know when you might have to give an impromptu speech in public without any time to prepare. Whether your teacher calls on you in class with no warning, or you're asking to give a toast on the spot at your friend's wedding, it's a good idea to know how to speak with confidence, anytime, anywhere. See Step 1 to find out how to make it seem like you were born for public speaking.

1.      Review what you are asked to speak about.
2.      Think about what you are asked to speak about. Use keywords to help to get material on what you want to speak on from your mind.
3.      Be calm and breathe freely.
4.      Don't think that you may make fool of yourself. there is no way you are going to make a fool of yourself. It takes a lot of courage to speak in public about anything especially without preparing for it earlier.
5.      Try to remember anything you can which has relevance to the topic. Any thing from news articles, scientific journals, or even personal experiences.
6.      Speak freely and smoothly, and speak as if to a friend to whom you have spoken for a long time.
7.      Try to keep your speech an appropriate length of at least 2 minutes.
8.      Don't pay heed to the expressions of your audience. many people have blank expressions or frown when they concentrate on something.
9.      Start with a good salutation and keep it light. Smile and let people know you are comfortable with speaking to them.
10.  Don't talk as if you know everything and are some kind of "smart guy", who just can't be proven wrong.
11.  When you get stuck, murmur something and let your audience know that you are thinking, not as if you have forgotten something. Say "umm" or "How should I put it?" Or even short "Errrr" would also do. Remember, don't get dumbfounded on stage and suddenly stop speaking and look around blankly.
12.  Finally, Keep your audience engaged, don't get boring and use difficult words which you know the audience won't understand.
13.  Don't get judgmental and be prejudiced in your speech.
